Sara Bareilles pursued her aim of being a successful artist after graduating from college. Since then, she worked in local bars and clubs in Los Angeles, including ‘Hotel Café’ and ‘Genghis Cohen. She also played at open-mic evenings and eventually appeared at music festivals as a performer.

‘Careful Confessions,’ her first self-released album, was picked up by ‘Epic Records’ in 2004. Then in 2005, she was signed to Epic Records.

At the beginning of the 2004 tour, she performed as a support act for both ‘Rocco DeLuca and the Burden’ and the band Guster.

For her future album, she spent the years 2005 and 2006 writing, composing, and redoing the songs she had already written. “Loving Annabelle,” a 2006 indie film using her song “Gravity,” featured her song “Gravity.”

As a support act for Aqualung and Mika in 2007, she also opened for ‘Maroon 5’ and Paolo Nutini on their North American tours. When James Blunt headlined VH1’s “You Oughta Know Tour,” she opened for him.
