Is There Monkeypox Virus In UK?
Yes, there are cases of monkeypox disease in the United Kingdom as there have been 71 reported cases in England at the moment.
According to reports, there was an earlier detection of 14 cases adding to the already existing cases making the country very much in danger of the new pandemic.
As of 23 May, no cases have so far been identified in Wales or Northern Ireland. People in the UK who have been told to direct any unusual rashes or lesions on any part of their body should immediately contact NHS 111 or their local sexual health service.
The number of cases that were recorded has been said to have come from people who are engaged in having same-sex such as gay, bisexual and men who have sex with men.
Chief Medical Adviser at UKHSA Dr Susan Hopkins stated saying;
If anyone suspects they might have rashes or lesions on any part of their body, particularly if they have recently had a new sexual partner, they should limit their contact with others and contact NHS 111 or their local sexual health service as soon as possible
